La siguiente investigación esta centrada en el derecho a la salud, como derecho fundamental, siendo el programa SAFCI uno de los instrumentos que el Estado boliviano ha desarrllado para garantizarlo; este estudio aborda la integración del sistema médico tradicional al sistema nacional médico boliviano, a través de dicho programa, cuyas directrices residen en la interculturalidad como eje articulador entre estos dos sistemas médicos, el estudio pretende desentrañar las estructuras socioculturales que le subyacen a cada sistema médico, cuyo propósito intenta también interpretar el proceso de aplicación del programa SAFCI en un hospital de 2do nivel, conocer y entender estas estructuras a través del abordaje de categorías expresadas de la siguiente manera: las dimensiones de la enfermedad, el diagnóstico y el tratamiento vistos desde ambos sistemas médicos, la hegemonía ejercida por la biomedicina y la medicina tradicional y finalmente la ética médica como eje fundamental en la afectación de derechos fundamentales ligados al derecho a la salud.
