Hilda Mundy, principal seudónimo de Laura Villanueva, es el nombre con el que firma, ventiañera, crónicas y textos diversos en la prensa más prestigiosa de Oruro. Es el nombre, también, con el que se hizo conocer hasta el fin de sus días en La Paz y con el que entra en la historia de las letras bolivianas. Se puede decir de ella, reduciendo apenas, que es fundamentalmente una escritora de los años 30. Su único libro publicado en vida. Pirotecnia (1936), se edita tras la aparición de su mayor producción periodística. Surge así un contraste entre un antes breve pero prolífico, y un después marcado por un largo silencio. Los años jóvenes y fecundos de la escritura están marcados por un contexto turbulento, ruptual, esencial de la historia de Bolivia. Se trata, entre otros, de una escritura de la Guerra del Chaco y sobre todo de la inmediata posguerra. Los diversos escritos periodísticos, humorísticos pero ácidamente críticos, le valdrán la censura gubernamental, hecho que pensará en su vida y en su obra.
Esta edición reúne literatura, crónicas periodísticas y textos diversos. Ello por exigencias heurísticas de una investigación hemerográfica emprendida para prestar una imagen exhaustiva de la autora; y a la vez, por la relación con la poética mundyana de unos textos y otros Hilda Mundy, main pseudonym of Laura Villanueva, is the name with which she signs, ventiañera, chronicles and diverse texts in the most prestigious press of Oruro.
