La idea de realizar una guía de identificación de plantas vasculares, se originó principalmente por la necesidad de información del área protegida Municipal "serranía de Los Milagros" y por las dificultades que tuvieron técnicos y tesistas del proyecto BEISA 2, que incursionaron por vez primera al fascinante mundo del conocimiento taxonómico de las plantas. Se requería de mucha dedicación y paciencia sobre todo en el aprendizaje y determinación de los diferentes grupos vegetales, de esta manera se originó la idea de elaborar una "guía de identificación de familias de plantas superiores"

The idea of carrying out an identification guide for vascular plants originated mainly from the need for information from the municipal protected area "Serranía de Los Milagros" and from the difficulties that technicians and thesis students from the BEISA 2 project had, who first ventured into the fascinating world of taxonomic knowledge of plants. It required a lot of dedication and patience especially in the learning and determination of the different plant groups, in this way originated the idea of developing a "guide to identify families of higher plants"
